Pre-departure orientation workshops
Attend a pre-departure orientation workshop offered through the Canadian Immigrant Integration Program (CIIP). CIIP services include a free one-day orientation workshop, an individual planning session and immediate contact with employers and others in Canada who can provide online advice and guidance before you immigrate.
CIIP will help you:
- Learn about economic trends, job requirements, occupational demands, foreign credential assessment and licensing processes, workplace culture, and job search techniques
- Initiate steps to get licensed or upgrade your skills and start your job search
- Get connected with employers and partner agencies in Canada that will help you make the transition to working and living in Canada
You, your spouse and your working‑age dependents become eligible to participate in CIIP when both of the following have occurred:
- You have applied to immigrate to Canada under the Federal Skilled Worker or Provincial Nominee programs.
- Citizenship and Immigration Canada has sent you a letter requesting that you submit medical and other security checks.
Locations
CIIP services are available in a number of locations through regional offices based in China, India, the Philippines and the United Kingdom.
Registration
CIIP sessions are popular, and space is limited. If you are eligible, register online as soon as possible, or contact CIIP to find out about sessions in other locations.

Being eligible for, or actually participating in an orientation session, is not a guarantee or an indicator that your immigration application will be successful or that you will receive an immigrant visa.
