Funding to improve foreign credential recognition processes
As outlined below, funding of $1.2 million is being provided for five
projects through Human Resources and Social Development Canada’s
Foreign Credential Recognition Program to improve foreign credential
recognition processes in Canada.
- The Association of Canadian Community Colleges will receive $147,387
to identify programs and services available in colleges or institutes
that prepare immigrant students to integrate into the labour force.
- The Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists will receive
$213,496 to create an Internet information portal that will provide
information about registration and licensure, the health-care
system and the occupational therapy environment in Canada.
- The Pan-Canadian Sector Council and Immigrant Dialogue of the Canadian
Coalition of Community-Based Employability Training will receive $246,711
to conduct three regional dialogues involving sector councils, employers
and immigrant-serving agencies that focus on partnerships and information.
- The Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science will receive
$138,172 to improve the clarity and accessibility of materials used
by internationally educated medical laboratory technologists.
- The National Alliance of Respiratory Therapy Regulatory Bodies will
receive $499,836 to investigate issues related to the entry of foreign-trained
practitioners and the development of an entry-to-practice examination
for competency assessment.
